Santee Community Center

Anticipated Opening: November 2027

On January 30, 2026, the City of Santee officially broke ground on the long-awaited Santee Community Center, a major milestone decades in the making.

Construction is now underway on a space that will expand recreation opportunities for all ages, from youth programs and teen activities to classes and events for adults and seniors. We look forward to sharing progress as this new hub for connection and community comes to life.

The Community Center will be located at 10129 Riverwalk Drive, Santee (Adjacent to the Cameron Family YMCA & Santee Aquatics Center)

Project Details:
• Two-story, 12,500 SF Community Center
• Multipurpose rooms, event center, outdoor deck and patio
• Backup emergency operations center

Project Timeline:
• Phase 1 (Feb - Jun 2026): New parking lot construction in front of the Cameron Family YMCA & Santee Aquatics Center (The YMCA Summer Camps will be moving to the Rio Seco. Questions? Please contact the YMCA's Camp Coordinator, Amber Cutting, for more details - acutting@ymcasd.org)

Funding
The majority of funding will come from restricted funding sources designated specifically for park and recreation capital projects. These funding sources consist of development impact fees including public facilities and park-in-lieu fees, and a State grant. These funds are dedicated to long-term investments like this and cannot be used for day-to-day City operations or other projects like road improvements.
