Town Center Community Park East Closure

Want the "dirt" on what's happening with our turf fields? 

The synthetic turf fields at Town Center Community Park East have been closed for most the summer. During the synthetic turf replacement process geotechnical exams were conducted on the fields that indicated a higher ground water table than anticipated and subsequent moisture in the synthetic turf base. This required removal of the existing turf and long periods of dry time prior to beginning the official project of replacing the synthetic turf fields.  

The turf installation project is funded by grants from Supervisor Anderson's office, community groups, and the City of Santee, with total project cost of $1,003,230.

The City of Santee will begin construction for the synthetic turf replacement project at Town Center Community Park East starting Monday, August 19. The entire park will be closed until project completion which is anticipated to be by early October. This will include the closure of the walking trails, restrooms, playground, and parking lots.

Looking to beat the heat? Santee Free Swim Days are available to Santee residents on Saturdays, August 17, 24 and 31 during the session times of 10:00am - 12:00pm, 1:00pm - 3:00pm and 4:00pm - 6:00pm at the Santee Aquatics Center/Cameron YMCA.
