Funding for local government is obtained from many revenue sources such as taxes, user fees, grants, and other special charges. California law requires that charges for services not exceed the reasonable estimated cost of providing services. The Consolidated Fee Schedule reflects no more than the cost to the City for providing fee-based services such as applying for a business license, obtaining a building permit or renting a City facility.
